Episode 3

Heart of Jubilee: Restore (North OC)

This sermon, delivered by Marcel Hall, is the final message in the series titled 'Heart of Jubilee.' The focus of this message is on the concept of restoration, as derived from Leviticus 25. Marcel recalls the series' previous themes—reset and release—before diving deep into what it means to be restored by God. He discusses the biblical origins and significance of the Jubilee and how Jesus fulfills the true spiritual Jubilee. He emphasizes that Jesus restores broken lives, relationships, and dignity, bringing a reset, release, and restoration to those who follow Him. Marcel also shares his personal struggles and how the concept of Jubilee is practically applicable in our lives today. The congregation is encouraged to embrace and actively participate in the ongoing restoration that Jesus offers.

Marcel:

So we are going to continue a series, uh, that we call our, or

2

:

we have called The Heart of Jubilee.

3

:

And so what we are doing as we have this

season, and we are really looking at this

4

:

as a season to prepare ourselves for the

Jubilee, but for this could be really,

5

:

again, the heart of the Jubilee is a time.

6

:

It's a season in which there

is a reset, there is release

7

:

and there is re restoration.

8

:

And so we really want this time to

prepare our hearts to get what is the

9

:

jubilee about biblically speaking, and

let's start to enter into that mindset.

10

:

Let's enter into that season so that what

we have, this somewhat of a kickoff, we

11

:

can then begin to experience in Christ the

jubilee that's available for our lives.

12

:

Today.

13

:

And so we are going to, uh, conclude here.

14

:

Uh, this part of our sermon series.

15

:

And the first week we talked about reset.

16

:

The last week, Daniel

Sogi talked about release.

17

:

And then today we're gonna be

talking about being restored.

18

:

And so we're gonna go ahead

and go to the father in prayer.

19

:

Let's pray right now.

20

:

Father, I thank you so much

for, uh, the scriptures.

21

:

I'm so thankful for your direction and

the heart that we see for your people,

22

:

the heart that we see for all of creation

as we study out your direction that you

23

:

gave to the Israelites in Leviticus 25.

24

:

And God, we pray that we can see

the application for our lives today.

25

:

We can begin to experience

the jubilee spiritually in

26

:

our hearts and in our lives.

27

:

Through Christ, we pray

in the name of Jesus.

28

:

Amen.

29

:

Amen.

30

:

Brothers and sisters, I'm gonna

need your help today, okay?

31

:

Okay.

32

:

Can you, can you be with me?

33

:

Yes.

34

:

Because I gotta be honest, your

energy is not with me right now.

35

:

We're registering.

36

:

And so you're registering.

37

:

Is that what it is?

38

:

Okay.

39

:

If you're registering,

then I give you a half.

40

:

Okay?

41

:

All right.

42

:

But I'm a need for you

to be with me today.

43

:

I need for you to always be with me when

I'm preaching, but especially today, some

44

:

of you may know that, uh, about a week and

a half, two weeks ago, uh, I got shingles.

45

:

What?

46

:

Yeah.

47

:

Yeah.

48

:

That's the same thing

I said when I saw it.

49

:

So those who know shingles is,

is basically adult chickenpox.

50

:

So if you had chickenpox as a kid, then

you can have shingles when you get older.

51

:

And so for some reason I, you

know, I always grew up and

52

:

hung out with the older kids.

53

:

So I guess I'm a old soul, but I guess

shingles in my thirties, you're not

54

:

supposed to get shingles in your thirties,

like in your sixties and seventies.

55

:

You get what I'm saying?

56

:

But I was like, I wanna go early.

57

:

And I got shingles in my thirties and then

I looked up and uh, I touched my side.

58

:

I said, Karina, there's something wrong.

59

:

And she looked and she said,

you got that shingles again.

60

:

And so I went, got medication,

but it was more painful.

61

:

And I think maybe, 'cause I'm now

in my forties, it's been hard.

62

:

And so actually I was supposed to

preach last week, but I called Daniel.

63

:

I didn't call him.

64

:

I texted him.

65

:

I was kind to you Daniel.

66

:

I texted Daniel at three o'clock in the

morning and said, I need you to preach.

67

:

And Daniel preached last week,

you know what I'm saying?

68

:

And did a phenomenal job.

69

:

Amen.

70

:

Now, I did tell him prior

that there's a chance, okay?

71

:

I wasn't terrible, but he did wake up

at 7:00 AM going, okay, I guess I'm up.

72

:

And so and so today I feeling a lot

better, but I have, I might have a

73

:

moment where I stop and look like I

get stiff because I am getting stiff

74

:

and there's a shooting pain in my side.

75

:

Okay?

76

:

So if you're like,

what's wrong with Marcel?

77

:

That's what it is.

78

:

Yeah.

79

:

So I need for you to be with me.

80

:

So can you be with me, church?

81

:

So I need your energy to be up church.

82

:

The Jubilee and the rest has

not started this morning.

83

:

Okay.

84

:

Alright, so we're gonna get into it.

85

:

So to remind all of us, and for those

of us who are maybe joining us online

86

:

or you, you maybe joining us today

for the first time, or you maybe

87

:

haven't been here with us in a couple

weeks, maybe you've been on vacation.

88

:

I wanna remind us here

the context of our study.

89

:

And so we take it back up to, uh,

the Prince of Egypt, back to Moses.

90

:

In the book of Leviticus.

91

:

And so Levi of Leviticus is the

fourth book in the Bible there.

92

:

And so in the book of Leviticus,

God gives his people some direction.

93

:

They're leaving Egypt, they're

leaving their slavery from Egypt, and

94

:

they're on their way to the Promised

Land and in the promised land before

95

:

they reach their God has given.

96

:

Some direction to prepare them.

97

:

What the culture, what has this, this

new kingdom, this society will be like.

98

:

And so God establishes laws, a

judicial system, and he establishes

99

:

a culture for his people.

100

:

And so that's what's taking

place when we get to Leviticus.

101

:

Chapter 25.

102

:

And so we also mentioned that

Leviticus 25 concludes what many

103

:

scholars call the Holiness Code.

104

:

And so starting in chapter 17, God

gives a lot of instruction and direction

105

:

on how his people are to be holy.

106

:

And God has always envisioned

that his people would be holy.

107

:

That means to be set apart, to be

different, to be of sacred use.

108

:

To be of God, to be divine.

109

:

And so we take it up in Genesis.

110

:

Genesis, not Genesis,

in Leviticus chapter 25.

111

:

And so that's where we are

going to begin our study today.

112

:

But I do wanna remind us here

as we talk about the Jubilee so

113

:

we can all be on the same page.

114

:

What is the jubilee?

115

:

Well, God told his people every 50 years,

I want you to stop working the land.

116

:

I want you to free the

people who owe debts.

117

:

And everybody said Amen for that.

118

:

And can we get an American

Jubilee with that?

119

:

And we wanna return the

land to the original family.

120

:

So remember they're going

to enter the Promised land.

121

:

And God had established where the, the

tribes and the clans, where they would

122

:

have their land in the new promised land.

123

:

But as time went on.

124

:

People would hit hard times, and

so people might make maybe poor

125

:

choices that led to hard times, or

maybe just their agricultural land

126

:

where they went, maybe somebody

got hurt, they hit some hard times.

127

:

You can't avoid poverty, and so he

said, every 50 years we're gonna

128

:

return the land back to the original.

129

:

Families.

130

:

So if you're that family that had lost

it, you're seeing hallelujah as well

131

:

and any, it's really a call for the

people to regain their trust in God.

132

:

And so as we will see here, there, it's

a time designed for a reset, a release.

133

:

Also a time to restore.

134

:

And this restoration includes

and involves redemption.

135

:

Church, are you with me this morning?

136

:

Yes.

137

:

Alright, so now let's go on over

to Leviticus chapter 25, verse 10.

138

:

We've read this before.

139

:

It says, consecrate the 50th year

on proclaim liberty throughout

140

:

the land to all its inhabitants.

141

:

It shall be a jubilee for you.

142

:

Each of you is to return to your

family property and to your own clan.

143

:

In this year of Jubilee, everyone

is to return to their own property.

144

:

We jump ahead on over to verse

47, and it's talking about

145

:

this idea of being redeemed.

146

:

And so we'll read this real quickly.

147

:

It says Conse, it says, if a foreigner

residing among you becomes rich, and any

148

:

of your fellow Israelites become poor

and sell themselves to the foreigner.

149

:

Or to a member of the foreigner's clan,

they retain the right of redemption

150

:

after they have sold themselves.

151

:

So people had a hard time, man,

I, I can't afford to, to repay the

152

:

debts that I owe or I can't afford

to, to provide for my family.

153

:

So I'm gonna sell myself over to you

as a servant or as a slave so that I

154

:

can work my way back up and be able to

redeem myself, redeem my family, or be

155

:

able to provide once again for my family.

156

:

You guys get what's going on.

157

:

And so that's what's taking place.

158

:

And he says, Hey, there's the right of

redemption and going on in verse 54, it

159

:

says, even as someone is not redeemed in

any of these ways, they and their children

160

:

are to be released in the year of Jubilee.

161

:

For the Israelites

belong to me as servants.

162

:

They are my servants whom

I brought out of Egypt.

163

:

I am the Lord your God.

164

:

We'll stop right there again.

165

:

Jubilee was a time for God's

people to be restored a redemption.

166

:

It is taking place a time to restore

what was lost, to restore the land, but

167

:

also what was being restored was dignity.

168

:

Because imagine, again, if you are in

this place and you are in a position

169

:

where you have to sell yourself in

order to provide for your family,

170

:

what's happened to your dignity?

171

:

It's been lost.

172

:

Your family's dignity is affected and

impacted by this, but now that you

173

:

get a chance on this year to return

to the land, be full ownership, or

174

:

really it's a lease, but you're having

full ownership and leasing of the

175

:

land now it's restored your dignity.

176

:

It's also reunited families

and re restored relationships.

177

:

It was a chance during the

Jubilee, during the 50th year

178

:

to restore their view of God,

179

:

a chance where they could see God for who

he really is, A God who is a provider,

180

:

a God who is just a God who is the owner

of all creation, A God who is the judge.

181

:

Of all creation.

182

:

A God who was sovereign over the universe,

a God who was caring, a God who's

183

:

compassionate, and a God who was loving.

184

:

They got a chance to restore that view.

185

:

Have you ever had a need in

your life where you needed

186

:

to restore your view of God?

187

:

You maybe had it get a little corrupted,

maybe life or maybe some poor choices,

188

:

had your view a little skewed.

189

:

Of the God of redemption.

190

:

You know the feeling and

reality of being restored.

191

:

There's nothing like it you ever

felt restored or redeemed in life.

192

:

I remember seeing a family member,

I went to pick up a relative of mine

193

:

who was freed from prison and they

first, as soon as they got out of the

194

:

prison gates and they went out, the

joy was incredible and you can see why

195

:

I'm being restored back to society.

196

:

Some of us, we can relate in the sense

of maybe we've had something valuable

197

:

that we lost, but it was returned to us.

198

:

You ever had that happen?

199

:

Yeah.

200

:

Maybe it was your phone, right?

201

:

You're like, where's my phone?

202

:

And somebody says, I got your phone.

203

:

You're like, hallelujah.

204

:

It's been restored.

205

:

Or maybe a brokered

relationship that's mended.

206

:

What is that feeling like?

207

:

See, when there's restoration,

there's no feeling.

208

:

There's nothing like it.

209

:

It's second to none.

210

:

There's a joy, there's a gratitude,

and there's a new beginning.

211

:

When something is restored.

212

:

It's a new beginning.

213

:

Now we go forward now having things whole.

214

:

And the heart of Jubilee again was

a time to reset, to release, and

215

:

to restore, you know, over time.

216

:

The prophets began to use this

jubilee language, this idea of

217

:

releasing, being reset, being

redeemed, being restored, being free.

218

:

They, they, they used it to

describe something deeper because

219

:

God had revealed that God's vision

for his people was a spiritual

220

:

renewal and a national redemption.

221

:

And so.

222

:

In Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, they use

the themes in the future, hope for God's

223

:

ultimate day of redemption for his people,

the ultimate day of redemption for all

224

:

of creation that would be redeemed and be

restored to wholeness, and that all would

225

:

have a chance to be restored to a new and

eternal relationship with their creator.

226

:

And so through the years going from

Leviticus and after that, through the

227

:

exile where God's people were exiled,

but then they returned, and you see

228

:

during that time, specifically when

the prophets would use this Jubilee

229

:

language, this Jubilee themes in

their call for God's people, what

230

:

they were really pointing toward was

something greater, or shall I say,

231

:

they were pointing to someone greater.

232

:

And you know who I'm talking

about, and that's Jesus.

233

:

You see, here's the truth here, is

that Jesus fulfills the jubilee.

234

:

Jesus fulfills the true spiritual

jubilee, a resetting, a releasing,

235

:

and a restoring spiritually.

236

:

Jesus fulfills it because Jesus truly

is the embodiment of the jubilee.

237

:

Let's go ahead and look

at Luke chapter four.

238

:

I said, brothers and sisters,

are you with me this morning?

239

:

Yes.

240

:

Luke four, verse 14,

no, excuse me, verse 16.

241

:

Jesus had already went on this, uh, time

and this journey of 40 days of fasting.

242

:

There was some perseverance.

243

:

Derrick right there.

244

:

Jesus, uh, was persevering, preparing

him to be able to embark upon his

245

:

ministry, and he goes to his hometown of

Nazareth, and here's where we take it up.

246

:

It says he went to Nazareth where he had

been brought up, and on the seventh day.

247

:

He went into the synagogue.

248

:

That was their church.

249

:

So he went in to service every Sunday

where it was Saturday for them, and he

250

:

goes into service, as was his custom.

251

:

He stood up to read and the

scroll of the prophet Isaiah

252

:

was handed to him on rolling it.

253

:

He found a place where it was written.

254

:

Jesus knew his Bible.

255

:

Did you catch that?

256

:

Yep.

257

:

It says he unenrolled.

258

:

He said, man, let me go to Isaiah.

259

:

Let me go to the right prophecy.

260

:

I got a scripture for them.

261

:

The spirit of the Lord is on me

because he has anointed me to

262

:

proclaim good news to the poor.

263

:

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for

the prisoners and recovery of sight for

264

:

the blind, to set the oppressed free and

to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.

265

:

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave

it back to the attendant, sat down.

266

:

The eyes of everyone in the

synagogue were fastened on him.

267

:

He began by saying to them, today, this

scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.

268

:

Boy, oh boy, Jesus is a cold man.

269

:

Yes, sir.

270

:

That's a mic drop if

you've ever thought of one.

271

:

He gets up and everybody's looking at him.

272

:

He says, man, let's go to the scripture.

273

:

Hey, let's go to Isaiah.

274

:

He reads this.

275

:

He rolls it back up, goes and

sits down and says, that right

276

:

there is being fulfilled today.

277

:

You, everybody's like,

whoa, who is this dude?

278

:

He says he began there and

probably started teaching, or he

279

:

just left it and said, I'm gonna

just let y'all marinate on that.

280

:

Come holler at me in a couple minutes.

281

:

But they were understanding, Hey, hold up.

282

:

This is some of that language.

283

:

Wait, we know from Isaiah, it's been

mentioned before, and what did you see?

284

:

He captures the heart of the Jubilee.

285

:

Yeah, there's good news.

286

:

This isn't bad news.

287

:

This isn't yo k Cal nine news at 11.

288

:

This is good news that I bring.

289

:

To the poor, but we also know that that

could be taken literally, but it was

290

:

also to those who are poor spiritually.

291

:

And who does that apply to you and me?

292

:

And he says, what I'm gonna

give freedom for the prisoners.

293

:

I'm also gonna give recovery of

sight for those who are blind,

294

:

and I'm gonna set those who are

oppressed, they're gonna be set free.

295

:

Because guess what?

296

:

This is the year of the Lord's favor.

297

:

The year of the Lord's favor.

298

:

And so again, what he is ushering

in is the true fulfillment of

299

:

the Jubilee and Jesus points

to himself and says, I am this.

300

:

This jubilee is fulfilled in me,

in my ministry, and he does it.

301

:

This is what his ministry was

like literally and spiritually.

302

:

He did preach to the poor.

303

:

He did give recovery

a sight for the blind.

304

:

He did all those things literally,

but then also spiritually freedom from

305

:

those enslaved by sin in Satan's traps,

spiritual eyesight would be restored,

306

:

now, able to see God again and maybe

God clearly for the first time, and

307

:

being released from the debt of sin.

308

:

Jesus announces, it's the year

of the Lord's favor again.

309

:

What is he telling us is that

Jesus fulfills the jubilee.

310

:

All of this was a foreshadowing of Jesus

who would come onto this scene and make

311

:

sure that this was enacted, not just for a

locale, not just for the people of Israel

312

:

in the Middle East, but that this would

be applied to all of his creation for all.

313

:

Who would come?

314

:

To faith in Christ.

315

:

There would be a reset that's available.

316

:

There would be a release that

would take place and there would

317

:

be a restora, a restoration that

would take place emotionally,

318

:

mentally, relationally, physically,

but most of all spiritually.

319

:

This is what you and I have

the opportunity to embrace and

320

:

to participate in in Christ.

321

:

Can I get an amen for that?

322

:

Amen.

323

:

You see, the Ultimate Jubilee

isn't an event, it's a person.

324

:

The ultimate Jubilee isn't

a year, it's the Messiah.

325

:

It's the king, it's the Lord.

326

:

It's the son of the living God.

327

:

And so you, we see here again

as we talk about restoring

328

:

Jesus restores broken lives.

329

:

Jesus restores broken relationships.

330

:

He restores dignity, and he

restores our purpose in life.

331

:

Amen.

332

:

Jesus restores today value You are sacred.

333

:

You're not just a running amuck person.

334

:

You are God's divine creation

who has called you to eternity.

335

:

Jesus restores our view of God.

336

:

We can view God as something distant.

337

:

Jesus says, no, God is personal.

338

:

He's right up here, up close.

339

:

We can view God as a judge.

340

:

Yes, he's a judge, but guess what?

341

:

He's a healer and friend.

342

:

We can view God as fill in the blank.

343

:

Jesus reveals no.

344

:

Here's what God is truly like when you

look at me, when you hear my words, you

345

:

are seeing the living God in action.

346

:

And so our view is restored.

347

:

Whoa God, you are incredible.

348

:

You are the God of mercy, but you are.

349

:

You are the God of righteousness.

350

:

You are the God of justice,

but the God of grace.

351

:

The God of truth, but

the God of compassion.

352

:

You are not either or you

are all that, and then some.

353

:

Amen.

354

:

That's the view that's accurate of God.

355

:

Jesus restores our relationship to God.

356

:

We have the opportunity through Christ

to go from God's creation to God's child.

357

:

To go from something he created

to know, you are my son and

358

:

you are my beloved daughter.

359

:

You are an an, an heir to my throne.

360

:

You are a co-heir with Christ.

361

:

Wait, how is that even possible?

362

:

I don't know, but that's

what the scripture reveals.

363

:

Jesus says, and what Jesus does is

that he restores our relationship

364

:

not only with God but to God.

365

:

I'm not on the outside.

366

:

I'm not a foreigner that's nearby.

367

:

I'm on the inside and

I'm your beloved child.

368

:

Hallelujah.

369

:

Thank God that Jesus

brings the true jubilee.

370

:

Amen.

371

:

Brothers and sisters, you

know, Jesus releases us.

372

:

From what holds us captive, as we

talked about last week, Jesus releases

373

:

us from our shame and our guilt.

374

:

Sometimes I remember my sin.

375

:

I'm like, my goodness, I can't

believe I did such things.

376

:

And then I'm reminded, boy, oh

boy, I'm, I'm free from that.

377

:

I'm not bound by that.

378

:

That's not who I am.

379

:

That's not my legacy.

380

:

I'm released from all

past shame and guilt.

381

:

Jesus releases us from the

temptation of materialism.

382

:

Boy, oh boy.

383

:

It's so hard to not be trapped

by materialism, isn't it?

384

:

But Jesus releases us from those chains.

385

:

When we follow him, it helps us

to focus in on what's eternal.

386

:

Jesus releases us from

the myth of control.

387

:

Again, it's a myth to think that

we're in control of our lives.

388

:

You think I, I was in control when

those shingles popped up on my body.

389

:

I couldn't do anything.

390

:

It doesn't matter.

391

:

And I've been, you know, telling folks,

I feel like my body's breaking down.

392

:

I've been eating healthy.

393

:

I, I've been working out for

years, but I'm not even in control

394

:

of what happens to my body.

395

:

Now, I can influence it,

but I'm not in control.

396

:

So it's a myth that you and I can ever

think that we have complete control.

397

:

And so Jesus releases that,

releases us from that.

398

:

It says, no, God is in control.

399

:

You aren't made just for this life.

400

:

This life is preparing you for the next.

401

:

Amen.

402

:

I'm gonna release you from that

stress and that nonsense and

403

:

that lie so that you can be what?

404

:

Free.

405

:

Jesus releases us from bitterness.

406

:

What entraps us?

407

:

You know, it's been said many

times, bitterness is, is like

408

:

drinking poison, but expecting

it to affect the other person.

409

:

Jesus takes that cup from us and

says, no, no, no, no, no, no.

410

:

No, you don't need to have that.

411

:

You don't need to kill yourself.

412

:

I'm gonna free you from that and allow

you to be forgiven so that you can

413

:

have freedom of, of the bitterness

that's enslaved you so that you can

414

:

have peace, even if it doesn't mean

true peace that we, we we're able to

415

:

get reconciled the way I would love to.

416

:

He says, even if that's the worst

case scenario, I'm still gonna

417

:

release you from that bondage.

418

:

Amen.

419

:

Only Jesus can do that.

420

:

Jesus releases us from the enslavement

of addiction, whether it's, uh, some

421

:

type of sexual addiction, uh, uh, uh,

uh, um, you know, chemical addiction

422

:

or, or just any other type of addiction.

423

:

The addiction of wanting

approval, whatever it is, Jesus

424

:

releases us from those addictions

425

:

just gets the opportunity to

be released from the sin that

426

:

weighs us down and deceives us.

427

:

De sin deceive you sometimes.

428

:

It sure deceives me sometimes,

but in Christ, the Jubilee comes

429

:

and he says, you know what?

430

:

This is the year of the Lord's favor.

431

:

We're gonna release you from that.

432

:

Jesus resets our eyes and our faith.

433

:

He resets our view of God again.

434

:

He resets our faith and

brings us back to what's true.

435

:

He brings us back to what's eternal.

436

:

He brings us back to what is good.

437

:

Yeah.

438

:

He brings us back to our

true purpose in life.

439

:

He brings us back to our mission

and he brings us back to God.

440

:

Jesus resets it all.

441

:

He says, we're gonna hit

a refresh on your life,

442

:

wherever it's been

going, maybe it's veered.

443

:

We're gonna hit a reset in your

life, and I'm gonna bring you back

444

:

to what's real and what does that do.

445

:

That leads us to a rest for our souls.

446

:

When there's a reset, there's a rest

for our souls for today, but he also

447

:

leads us to rest as for eternity.

448

:

Amen.

449

:

Jesus fulfills.

450

:

The Jubilee.

451

:

Can I get a witness up in here?

452

:

Is there anybody who has ever had a

time, just at least once in your life?

453

:

Well, through and because of Jesus,

you've either been re reset, you've

454

:

had a release, or you've been restored.

455

:

Again, we can testify to this truth that

Jesus and only Jesus fulfills the jubilee,

456

:

and you and I have experienced that.

457

:

Yes, but here's the awesome thing.

458

:

It's not just for one

time, it's for a lifetime.

459

:

Because we can veer and Jesus

says, let's come on back.

460

:

Let's have a time of reset.

461

:

You know what?

462

:

You have some things that brought

you back to being in captivity.

463

:

Let's release you from that.

464

:

You have some things that have been lost.

465

:

Let's restore what's been lost.

466

:

Amen.

467

:

So again, you and I can experience

the jubilee today in Christ.

468

:

I don't know about you.

469

:

I'm in need of a time for

Jesus to be my jubilee.

470

:

Again, God's been telling me, Marcel, you

need to reset, Marcel, you need some rest.

471

:

Even this past week with shingles,

I was like, I gotta work.

472

:

Reina was like, boy, lay down.

473

:

I was like, okay, but

let me do some stuff.

474

:

And I just kept not getting better and

I'm like, okay, God, I'm gonna rest.

475

:

But God's been telling me,

Mar, so you need a reset.

476

:

You need some rest.

477

:

You got some things that they've

been holding you captive.

478

:

Your pride's starting to get to you again.

479

:

Your insecurity is starting

to get to you again.

480

:

You've been freed from that.

481

:

Let's release you again, Marcel.

482

:

Amen.

483

:

Gotta restore some things.

484

:

Marcel.

485

:

Your zeal is an evangelist.

486

:

Gotta restore that.

487

:

I'm like, amen.

488

:

Restore my soul to wholeness.

489

:

So I don't know about you, but I need

Jesus in a time of jubilee in my life.

490

:

And I didn't, I didn't know this, and

I've been part of planning the jubilee.

491

:

So all this time, all this stuff,

I'm like, God, you were good.

492

:

'cause you setting me up at the

right time for me to study this,

493

:

for me to get more in touch with

this and for me to experience this.

494

:

Brothers and sisters, will you embrace

or will you step in and lean in and

495

:

experience the Jubilee that's in Christ?

496

:

I'll just share this real briefly.

497

:

It's not in my notes, but I, I do

wanna say, if you haven't signed

498

:

up for the Jubilee for a reason,

like I just don't want to go.

499

:

I don't like being around people.

500

:

It's too much money.

501

:

Do you really wanna forfeit what God might

be doing in your life for that reason?

502

:

If there's an issue,

come holler at your boy.

503

:

Let's figure things out.

504

:

We can work this out because I believe

that God wants every one of us to

505

:

experience the jubilee that Christ offers.

506

:

And so the heart of the Jubilee

is about becoming the people God

507

:

always envisioned, rested, free

and whole, and that's only found.

508

:

Jesus.

509

:

And so how should we respond?

510

:

I believe this.

511

:

We should join Jesus in

the ongoing restoration.

512

:

Join Jesus in ongoing restoration.

513

:

If you're not a disciple of Jesus, then

here's how you can apply this idea.

514

:

It's to seek now a saving

relationship with God through.

515

:

And so the ongoing restoration can

only take place if you have the

516

:

initial restoration in your life.

517

:

And that's having a faith in Christ that

leads to a commitment to a relationship.

518

:

And so we wanna be there and available

and helping you to study God's word to

519

:

know him and make decisions in response

to the grace that has offered you.

520

:

For those of us who are disciples

of Jesus, we are called to

521

:

join the restoration that Jesus

began and that he is still.

522

:

Doing today.

523

:

And that can be seen in two ways.

524

:

One, uh, uh, allowing Jesus to lead

in your ongoing restoration, allowing

525

:

Jesus to take the role lead role,

and not you yourself deciding, but

526

:

allowing Jesus to take the will,

if you will again in your life.

527

:

Let me ask you this.

528

:

What could life be like if you let

Jesus lead your ongoing restoration?

529

:

What could your life be like

if you let Jesus take the lead

530

:

in your ongoing restoration?

531

:

And not only can we join in this ongoing

restoration by allowing Jesus to lead

532

:

it, but it's also when we join in his

restoration work in other people's lives.

533

:

Joining Jesus in his good work

of restoring what was lost.

534

:

You know, the greatest opportunity that

you and I have as a child of the living

535

:

God is to join him in helping others

go from being lost to being saved.

536

:

There's no greater opportunity.

537

:

What beats that?

538

:

For a soul to go from lost to being

safe and you being used by God

539

:

just to play a small role in that,

540

:

why would we ever forfeit that

unless we're off a little bit, right?

541

:

We're not thinking clearly.

542

:

We got some stinking thinking

going on, and this is how we can

543

:

respond to Jesus being the jubilee

in our lives, is to join Jesus.

544

:

And the ongoing restoration of our own

souls, but also in the souls around

545

:

us and sharing the good news and

being faithful to those who respond

546

:

to the good news and helping them to

learn to obey the good, the gospel,

547

:

the way it commands us in Matthew 28.

548

:

We're gonna close out here

with some action steps.

549

:

Brothers and sisters,

are you still with me?

550

:

Here's some action steps this week here.

551

:

Real simple.

552

:

Number one, follow week three's

reading plan and questions.

553

:

And so we do have hard copies.

554

:

Again, we don't make a a, a lot of

hard copies 'cause we know as soon as

555

:

you fold, you'll never see it again.

556

:

Right, so you can, you can go

ahead and pull out your phones.

557

:

We got that on there.

558

:

We'll also put it, uh, on the, uh,

the newsletter and we'll also put it,

559

:

uh, on, on the church app as well.

560

:

And so there, uh, again, you can

serve, it could serve as a devotional

561

:

time for you or an additional time.

562

:

The discussion questions have been

rich if you do it with somebody.

563

:

I had me and Daniel Samoy this week.

564

:

I was with Chris Glossy last week, and

man, I was just so filled up to hear

565

:

how God had been ministering to them.

566

:

And so it's been awesome.

567

:

But second.

568

:

Follow, I mean, reflect.

569

:

Reflect, and ask yourself this

question, and please do this.

570

:

What area of my life needs to be restored?

571

:

Spend some time.

572

:

Allow yourself to not just answer it

quickly, but allow the spirit to minister

573

:

to you as you answer that question.

574

:

Let the spirit reveal it to you.

575

:

Maybe it's one, maybe it's

two, maybe it's three things.

576

:

And then lastly, to respond,

take one step toward restoring it

577

:

this week, whatever's revealed.

578

:

Maybe it's a conversation,

an apology, asking for help,

579

:

rebuilding, trust, prayer, et cetera.

580

:

But again, here's the action step this

week that every single one of us we can

581

:

do in response to Jesus being the true.

582

:

Jubilee in our lives.

583

:

I'm excited about the Jubilee and the

ICMC this week, and it's right here.

584

:

It's local.

585

:

We just drive a couple of minutes.

586

:

I'm excited about it.

587

:

I'm excited that as a church, but

individually, we're in a season where

588

:

we can experience the heart of Jubilee.

589

:

The heart of Jubilee again is what?

590

:

A reset that includes rest, a release

from what's holding us captive.

591

:

To restore and redeem what has been lost.

592

:

Jesus fulfills the jubilee and we

can join in the ongoing restoration.

593

:

Jesus began.

594

:

Let's close out in this passage

here in Luke four, verse 18 to 21.

595

:

Jesus is quoting Isaiah 61 and he

says, the spirit of the Lord is

596

:

on me because he has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

597

:

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for

the prisoners in recovery of sight for

598

:

the blind, to set the oppressed free to

proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.

599

:

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave

it back to the attendant, and sat

600

:

down in the eyes of everyone in

the synagogue were fastened on him.

601

:

He began by saying to them, today, this

scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.

602

:

God always wanted ju to

believe Jesus brought.

603

:

It's fullness now.

604

:

We prepare to experience it together.

605

:

Amen.

606

:

Brothers and sisters.
